Oxford street Cabs

Oxford Street is more than it seems. Now in its 50th year, the city is growing and looking to become the center of the future. Discover Oxford Street for more information and also Cabs services in Oxford street.

Just 45 miles from London, the city is conveniently located and well connected by a grid of roads and tube lines. It is home to a number of large companies including Volkswagen, Rightmove and Argos. It is also home to some iconic landmarks. But that’s just the tip of the iceberg. Here are 16 facts about the city that may surprise you.

Parking:

Need a place to stop? Fear not – there are over 20,000 parking spaces in the center of Oxford Street, so finding a spot shouldn’t be too difficult. As a result, the vast majority of Silverado service garages have on-site parking – a luxury rarely seen in big cities.

In the cinema

Believe it or not, Oxford Street Exploration has given us Britain’s first multiplex cinema. The Point, as it was called, was a remarkable development of the 1980s, characterized by its distinctive crystalline zigzag tower shape of facade and fluorescent neon lights.

Museum

Oxford Street’s ‘cultural institutions’ include everything from historic telephones to code-breaking puzzles. Escape to an air-raid shelter or navigate a reconstruction of the world’s first electronic computer. There really is a lot to do.

Green spaces on Oxford Street

Rural towpaths and grassy banks stretch between roundabouts. With over 5,000 acres of parkland, lake and woodland, exploring Oxford Street is as green as it is urban and provide cabs services. The best spots include ancient Shenley Wood, where wildflowers abound, and the River Ouzel, which leads to many country pubs.

Round About

According to a recent Guardian article, there are 130 roundabouts along Oxford’s roads. That’s a lot of roundabouts for one city. But as the area keeps growing, we can only guess how many there will be in six months’ time.

Exploring the Oxford Street coastline:

Oxford Street’s supply of 15 lakes and 11 miles of canals is more abundant than Jersey’s. It also surpasses Venice in the number of bridges. We recommend a cruise on the Grand Union Canal – a romantic getaway?

Not exactly the sort of thing you’d expect to find in Buckinghamshire – maybe the Maldives. It was architect Stuart Mosscrop’s idea. The granite-edged baths in the open square of the Oxford Street shopping center caused controversy for their expensive design and were closed shortly after completion.

Driverless cars

Britain’s first driverless car was tested on Oxford Street last year and proved a success. The two-seater LUTZ Pathfinder reached speeds of 15mph, paving the way for similar vehicles in the future. It is expected that by 2018, 40 driverless cars will be on Oxford Street.
